Dahwul-Ardh
Submitted by Azra
The phrase "Dahwul Ardh" literally means "The spread of the earth".
According to a hadith of the Holy Prophet (s) this is the day when the earth was spread for the advantage of human beings. In another hadith it is reported that the first rahmah & blessing descended on this day.
The eve of “Dahwul Ardh”, which precedes the day of “Dahwul Ardh”, is a very special night on which the mercy of Allah is bestowed and saying prayers has a great reward. Imam Ali Redha (a.s.) has said that Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Issa were born on this eve. The earth was spread on this eve from beneath the Holy Kabah.
“Dahwul Ardh" - the 25th of Dhulqa'dah is one of the four days in the year which carry special reward for fasts. The fast of this day equals fasting for seventy years.
Whoever observes fast on this day and spends its eve in prayer is rewarded for the worship of a hundred years.
One of the A'maals to be performed on this day is:
Pray 2 raka sala after sunrise as follows:
In every raka, after recitation of Sura Fateha, recite Sura Shams 5 times.
After Salam say
 |
There is no power and no strength
except Allah's the Highest High,
the Al-mighty. |
Then ask for your wishes and say:
 |
O He who tolerates lapses, bear with my false steps, O He who responds to supplications, answer to my prayers. O He who pays attention to (all) voices, hear my cry, and have mercy on me, overlook my wrongdoings and opposition
O Owner of might and majesty.
