Kufa is one of the four towns to which Allah has granted eminence and has been assigned status similar to Mount Sinai. It has been reported that it is the sanctuary of Allah, the Holy Messenger and Imam Ali (a.s.)

Excellence of the Mosque of Kufa

One of the four mosques where a traveler is permitted to recite full prayers.
Obligatory prayers performed here are equal to an obligatory pilgrimage.
Obligatory prayers performed here are equal to a thousand prayers said elsewhere.
Thousand Prophets and a thousand successors of Prophets have said their prayers in this mosque.
Our 12th Imam will say his prayers here.
Prophet Mohamed (pbuh) prayed two rakaats in this mosque on the night of Me’raj.
