In Rememberance of H. Abu Talib

Imagine being born an orphan
and then when you are six,
losing your mother
Going under the care of your grandfather
Only to lose him when you are eight
Who’d take care of you now you’d think
Of course, Allah has a plan!
He gives your care to your uncle
Caring Uncle he is
He’s always watching over you,
Protecting you from enemies
Making sure no one hurts you
Caring Uncle he is
When you become a young man,
He finds you a job,
He recites your nikah and gets you married.
Caring Uncle he is
Then you start preaching the oneness of Allah
Everyone turns against you
But your uncle sides you
Caring Uncle he is
Your relatives want you to stop preaching
They boycott you and turn you out of the city
Your uncle takes you to a safe place
Caring Uncle he is
But then, it’s time for your uncle to leave this world
You feel shattered
You know you’d never find someone like him
Caring Uncle he was
You call the year “Amul Huzn”
Year of Sadness it is indeed!
You’ll always honor your Uncle
Caring Uncle he was!
